Session Five

This session's chapter is probably the most relevant to my degree so far. It provided a good background in information assurance techniques and some of the pros and cons of each.

I found the week's discussion question concerning alternatives to passwords very interesting reading. I even did some extra research on identification techniques like iris scans and fingerprinting.

My organization has plans to set up a 'something you have, something you are, and something you know' system, but hasn't yet developed/purchased the necessary technology.

Having a system that supports "something you have, something you are, and something you know" sounds very expensive! Strong authentication start with 2 of the 3 factors. You need to balance security with cost. I guess you will need 3 factors if what you are securing is in the national interest.
